Episode 54 is on the scene with two drivers who are hoping to be amongst the 40 competitors that will compete in the richest, and most prestigious Late Model Stock Car race in the country this weekend at Martinsville Speedway. The 2023 Valley Star 300 is the final race of the 2023 Virginia Triple Crown and will have a who's who of late model racing attempt to etch their name in the record books and win a grandfather clock.
2021 Valley Star 300 Pole winner and 2022 heat race winner Daniel Silvestri returns to the show. We discuss what he's been up to since the last time he visited with us last year, working with Logan Clark and R&S Racing on the CARS Tour as a spotter and a crew member and his preparations for his only race of 2023 this weekend. He discloses what he needs to do to close the deal after finishing in the top ten the last two seasons. He also tells us what it means to him if he were to win a clock and what he would give up.
Trevor Ward has competed at South Boston Speedway, won at ACE Speedway and sparingly on the CARS Tour in 2023. The driver from Winston Salem North Carolina is currently third in the 2023 Virginia Triple Crown Standings with an average finish of fifth. Trevor joins us this week to access his chances for winning the prestigious grandfather clock. He reveals how many folks he has working on his race team, how he almost didn't even make the trip to Langley in July, taking a step backward so he can focus on the big races and we also learn more about where he came from and where he got the racing bug! Trevor also reveals his future plans for the rest of the racing season, what he would or wouldn't give up for a win at Martinsville and where he would put the trophy. The answer may give you a chuckle!
We give an exclusive preview of the race by revealing who we think will be contenders and who will be dark horses. We also provide some fun facts about the history of the race and participate in our first ever Valley Star 300 Fantasy Draft.
We talk about Denny Hamlin being the heel that NASCAR desperately needs. Who needs to step up in the next round of the playoffs, what is going on at JR Motorsports, preview Texas and much more!
