Episode 53 is on the scene with Part 2 of our salute to the track champions at South Boston Speedway for 2023. We are joined by the Sentara Late Model Stock Division Champion Carter Langley this week on the podcast! We discuss his 2023 campaign and he reveals the exact moment he knew he would be competing for a track championship. He tells us how much he has grown as a driver coming off a season where he ran the CARS Tour and the struggles he faced. He also tells us his future plans for this season and his long term plans may surprise you. You will have to listen to find out.
We break down another wild finish on the Solid Rock Carriers Cars Tour. Brenden "Butterbean" Queen nabbed his second win of the season over the weekend at New River All American Speedway but everyone is talking about the finish of the event. We discuss Ronnie Bassett Jr's move to overtake Queen on the last lap that ultimately sent both sideways and Bassett to settle for a third place finish again on the tour. This led to a discussion about racing for the win vs racing for points which both hosts have differing opinions. We also talked about tire conservation, Logan Clark leading early hoping it would rain and much more!
The SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic had an unexpected week off due to the rain but we discussed the upcoming race at Lonesome Pine in Coeburn VA. Is this the weekend Caleb Heady breaks through for a win or will a veteran like Ryan Newman or Bobby Labonte break through. Plus we dive into the history book to discuss the last event there back in 1999.
Over in the NASCAR World, we discuss 23X1's continued dominance at Kansas Speedway with Tyler Reddick's second win of the 2023 season. Does Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott have legitimate beef? Is a crew chief change coming in the off season and Jody makes a shocking comparison you have to hear to believe. We give our winners and losers for the weekend, and make our pie bets for the final cut off race at Bristol.
All of this plus news from South Boston, a ticket giveaway for Martinsville, who's race car our podcast will be appearing on, Short Track Spotlight and much more this week on DLN!
